Last week, Myer Melbourne unveiled its 58th Myer Christmas Animated Windows.
I wasn’t there for the noon unveiling at the Bourke Street Mall, which featured the Salvation Army Australia Songsters, Aussie soprano and actress Mariona Prior, and of course Santa Claus and his elves, but I happened to be in the city later that afternoon. I walked down to have a look.
This year’s theme is a tribute to the children’s book Gingerbread Friends by Jan Brett, a 2008 title for pre-schoolers.
The Myer Christmas Animated Windows are a pretty big deal here in Melbourne. Over the next couple of months, hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people will flock to see them. At night, when there they are beautifully lit, there are long queues to see them. Be sure to stop by if you’re in the city.
You can see more photos of the unveiling on Myer’s Facebook.
When I was little my Mum used to take me to Melbourne (we lived nearly 200 miles north of Melbourne) with the main highlight seeing the Myers Windows :-). Your post brought back some happy memories, thanks.
