There are markets galore in Melbourne. In Miami, a farmer’s market is something of a novelty. In Melbourne, markets are just life.
The Queen Victoria Market is probably Melbourne’s most famous market, but other suburbs also have a market with fresh fruits and vegetables, delis, butchers, fishmongers, and even home goods and clothing. Beyond these, you can find an arts and crafts market going on most weekends and there are a number of twilight markets going on now during the holiday season.
Last weekend, I went to the Big Design Market. Held at the beautiful and iconic Royal Exhibition Building, the three-day market featured 170 vendors showcasing the best of their wares, which included fashion and accessories, home goods, textiles, lifestyle and kids’ products, stationary and books. I was particularly smitten with the bicycles.
The Big Design Market is over, but if you’re looking for some other great markets, check out All Melbourne Markets.
