This weekend, my partner Theo and I visited Forest Glade Gardens in Mount Macedon.
It was a bitter, overcast day, but fiery autumn colours in the trees made up for it. Forest Glade Gardens boasts four themes: an English section, a Japanese section, a woodland area, and a fern gully. Stroll along the rambling paths, past statues and stately trees, arches, aviaries, and ponds.
It is popular with tourists. There were a lot of visitors, but it covers fourteen acres. It’s easy to find quiet spots. You can take your time and explore it at your own pace or book to take a tour. It has many beautiful spots to sit and take in all the beauty around you. It’s a wonderful garden for meditative walks.
There are important things to know. Parking is limited to the roadside. Most of the garden is level except for the lower part. Stairs are avoidable if you stay on the main path. There are no public toilets on the property.
Forest Glade Gardens is located at 816 Mount Macedon Road and open to the public seven days a week from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm between September and May. Entry is $8 for adults, the proceeds of which goes to their charitable foundation. You need to take the exact amount. Children are admitted free.
